At this time we hear about so many high school students seeking part time jobs either after school, night time jobs or for the weekends. Quite a few of these high school students are looking for a job because they are trying to help their mom and dad who may be overloaded with the predominant unemployment and job losses they are often suffering from.

Even with unemployment is remarkably high, we still see a sizable amount of high school jobs for students. Teens blend better with quite a few jobs. Try looking for movie theater jobs, hospital jobs, fast food restaurant jobs, day care center and retail jobs that are thought of as well paying for students. Furthermore, if the student has determined what he or she has decided to to do as they become adults, they can also seek a position attached in some way to that particular field of work. For example, if the teen wants to eventually work in the financial sector, he or she could apply for employment with a company having to do with the financial sector The high school student won’t have any experience in the financial sector but they could get jobs with financial companies such as; being a messenger, filing part time, in the mail room, or answering phones. Once they have the part time job, they might eventually work their way up in the company as they show interest for the field of finance and as their job skills mature.

It’s expensive to be a high school student! Put aside the actual cost of books and school supplies. An additional expense in a high school student’s life are their clothes. A teenagers wardrobe is top of the list important to the majority of high school students! If the student is an athlete, there is sports supplies and equipment that also must to be taken into count. How about high school rings and class pictures? Also, as a senior there are other, even more expensive “gotta haves” such as senior prom, the senior trip, and graduation invitations. And if the student is going to college, there’s the other expense of the college entry tests. Let’s not forget about car insurance? Car insurance and gas are a major expense and the amount can add up fast. Especially if the high school student is male because car insurance is exceedingly higher. Many parents, if out of work, are feeling the heightened pressures of how they can continue to nurture their children in the lifestyle they’re used to. It is bad enough that too many families recently are barely getting by, but the added worries about their children are almost too much to take on. However, the good news is, a lot of high school students are anxious to start looking in the world of employment and will do so because they really want to help pay for some of the small things they need or want. Nearly two thirds of high school students are qualified to be employed. In the junior year, they are on average, between 16 and 18 years old. Luckily, there are quite a few high school jobs for seniors for those that are qualified. And don’t think you’re alone… college students as well as recently laid off older adults are also seeking part time jobs as well.

This is going to sound strange but, the timing to be searching for high school jobs for students is right now. Since there is an undoubted job shortage, the student probably won’t qualify for the first job they vie for. This is a well needed life-experience for the teenager and will help to build confidence and determination. These important life skills will be something the student carries with them and finally, when the job market and economy eventually rebound, the opportunities will be limitless to the high school student.
